Who We Are

C4 Urban Outreach is a State of Michigan Non Profit 501c3 Organization that was created with the primary purpose of ministering and evangelizing to the homeless, less fortunate and addicted people in Detroit and surrounding areas.

We are a street ministry that sets out to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ in the city.

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me."           - Matthew 25:35,36

The Four "C's" Of Effective Ministry

Christ-Centered

First and foremost we are representing Jesus Christ! It’s our desire to be His hands and feet on the streets. We can do a lot of things to help the homeless, hopeless and less fortunate but without Christ in the center of all we do, our labor will be fruitless. It’s through His power that the people’s needs will be met, not our own.

Mark 16:15  - And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.

Matthew 6:33 - But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Philippians 4:13 - I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.

Compassion

The Hebrew and Greek words translated compassion in the Bible to mean “to have mercy, to feel sympathy and to have pity.”

We know that according to the Bible, God is “a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness."

Like all of God’s attributes, His compassion is infinite and eternal.  His compassions never fail; they are new every morning.

Matthew 9:36-38 - When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

Commitment

Our words and actions are important to God. When we make a commitment to someone we should keep it. He takes our promises to others and to Himself very seriously (whether we do or not). Let our yes be yes and our no be no.  We are committed to show up at the same time and place every Sunday in order to build  trust and relationship.

Numbers 30:1-2 - “This is what the LORD commands: When a man makes a vow to the LORD or takes an oath to obligate himself by a pledge, he must not break his word but must do everything he said.”

Matthew 5:34-37 - “But I tell you, do not swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne; or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. Simply let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.”

Consistency

1 Corinthians 15:58 - Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

James 1:17 - Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

Deuteronomy 28:1-68 - “And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God. Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl…

We are called to share the 'good news' of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all people!

Our Mission In Action

Get Involved With Us

We've broken down the areas of service into 4 categories. You are welcome and encouraged to serve where ever you feel led...and if there is something that isn't listed that you want to bring to the table, then you can contact us at the bottom of the page.

We welcome suggestions!

Prayer

Prayer IS the most important and most effective thing that anyone can do for the city as well as for this ministry. If you aren't able to serve with us on the streets and you want to make a big impact from where you are at then PRAY!

Serve on the Street

Street ministry can be one of the most rewarding experiences.  There is nothing like showing someone that has nobody that you care about them by listening to them, ministering to them, praying with them or leading them closer to Christ.  A kind word and listening ear speaks volumes of love!

There are many ways that you can serve during the street outreach...

  • Serving food & drinks in the food line.

  • Handing out toiletry bags and helping to find clothes that fit.

  • Praying with people.

  • Preaching God's Word

  • Singing / playing music.

Monetary

Donations of money are always welcome!  This helps to buy items that are a necessity to run the ministry, helps to insure, register and put gas in the box truck.

We always need help to raise funds for this ministry. Please contact us if you would like to help plan a fundraiser or if you have a creative idea for one.

Serve From Home

We cannot express how blessed this ministry is to have the people that serve in different capacities from their homes.

They are the background workers that often do cooking, re-heating food, processing the food donations for storage, storing food, sorting & storing clothes, picking up donated items/furniture, and of course praying!

Donations

It's a blessing and a big help to the ministry to receive monetary donations. We understand how hard you worked to earn it and we think it's critical that we be good stewards with every penny that you give.

Your financial gift helps us to:

Operate and grow the ministry.

Provide personalized help for those on the streets.

Provide planned meals on the streets (we only do this a few times a year)

Put gas in the box truck and for repairs

Registration & insurance for box truck

Yearly insurance for the ministry

C4 Urban Outreach relies on a variety of non-cash donations which keeps this ministry going.  We believe that the Lord lays it on the hearts of His people to give, and we can say with confidence that the Lord provides all the needs for His ministry.  All but 2-3 meals a year are prepared by food that is donated. The clothing that is received goes directly to the people on the streets and you can be rest assured that none of your donations are used for resale.
